Here is part two of my trip to Arundel, in which we go into the Castle itself...

Last week Emma and I went to Arundel, a place I mostly knew about from having to study the poem An Arundel Tomb for GCSE English Literature, and enjoyed a lovely visit to the Castle and Gardens.

I of course took a whole load of photos so I'm going to split this into two posts.  This one will focus on the Gardens part of the Castle and Gardens.

Last Friday I went up to see Paul for our Festive Weekend. We avoided central London this year, which was probably sensible but I did miss the Muppets. I'll just have to make up for it by watching and singalong-ing a lot at home!

Nearly a year ago Paul and I went on a mini holiday to Rye and Hastings. A couple of months ago I realised I hadn't actually posted all my pictures like I thought I had. And today I am finally posting the final part!

Me? A chronic procrastinator? Never!

This time last week I was up in Oxford for Paul's wedding. And, amazingly, I'm going to post about it in a reasonable timeframe rather than six months later. What is this madness?

Tying the Knot )

So yes, a very lovely few days and a beautiful wedding! Which hopefully bodes well for their future together!

Previously, in my Livejournal, I gave you my Ships of the Noughties and Twentieth Century Ships lists. Well, a decade has passed since my Noughties list, a decade full of romantic, fun, heartwarming, and occasionally heartbreaking new ships for me to enjoy. So I have a new list to present for your reading pleasure.

As usual I found myself with far more potential couples than I could possibly include and so I may have gone slightly overboard with the honourable mentions list. I just couldn't bear to leave any of them out!

Once again I am not doubling up, so Mulder/Scully, Grissom/Sara, Tony/Ziva, Michael/Sara, Booth/Brennan, Barney/Robin, and Chuck/Sarah are not included because they're already on my Ships of the Noughties list. Although I was tempted to treat Prison Break's return like a new show and include Michael/Sara again, mainly cos when I wrote the first list Michael was supposed to be dead but it turns out he wasn't. (Shocking, I know...)

Anyway, here is my Ships of the 2010s list. Starting with the ones who didn't quite make the final cut:

And now, the main event:

In my previous entry I talked about my feelings regarding three upcoming season finales. Now I have actually seen those finales I have some further thoughts:

I'm sorry, I just have to flail over TV for a bit here:

Castle )

Doctor Who )

Apparently there's a favourite episodes meme going around LJ, so I thought I'd give it a go. And in doing so have discovered how bad I am at choosing favourite episodes.

I wanted to do BSG, but I just can't seem to think of it in terms of individual episodes. Other than The Oath and Blood on the Scales, which would definitely be on the list if I'd done one.

Doctor Who was quite easy. I have definite episodes of this show that I absolutely love and will rewatch again and again. Also, two-parters totally count as one episode for the purposes of this list.

Doctor Who:

1. A Good Man Goes to War
2. Let's Kill Hitler
3. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang
4. The Wedding of River Song
5. Vincent and the Doctor
6. The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone
7. The Doctor's Wife
8. The Angels Take Manhattan

Any Doctor Who fans reading this will probably have noticed a slight bias in my choices, lol!

I'm also going to do Buffy and Castle, although with these I know that I may suddenly go 'Oh, wait, what about x?! How could I have left that out?!' cos I'm just going with what I can think of at this moment:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

1. Hush
2. Once More with Feeling
3. Tabula Rasa
4. New Moon Rising
5. Halloween
6. Amends
7. Gingerbread
8. What's My Line parts 1 & 2

Castle:

1. Probable Cause
2. Target/Hunt
3. Cops and Robbers
4. Cuffed
5. After Hours
6. Tick Tick Tick/Boom
7. Vertias
8. The Time of Our Lives

I have to say, based on the adverts and all the build-up, I expected Downton Abbey to have been a bit more wrapped up last night than it turned out to be. I suppose Mary getting married was something, even if it did happen ridiculously quickly, but all their declarations of love fell a bit flat cos Henry's left no impression on me whatsoever and it felt like their wedding came out of nowhere. I know their romance has supposedly been building all season, but it hasn't felt like it. (In fact this is the first time all year I've actually remembered his name, which says a lot about how invested I've been in this storyline!)

At least they finally acknowledged that Mary might have some issues being married to a man who races cars when her first husband died in a car crash. Of course this only merited a short scene and then it was all forgotten again, but still. That's probably the best you can hope for with Downton now.

And I still think Bertie's going to go back to Edith. That's going to happen in the Christmas special. It has to.

Anyway, onto the November meme. Topic 5 is Favourite Romantic Pairing:

Now, I know I've been saying that pretty much every single topic so far is a tricky one, but this is definitely the hardest yet. Shipping is such a huge part of my fandom life and, as with TV shows, I usually go through stages of being super obsessed with a ship for a while before finding a new one and becoming super obsessed with that, but just because my super-obsession has moved on doesn't mean that I don't still love the old pairings or ship them any less. So rather than trying to pick one, I'm going to go with a top ten eleven in no particular order:

1. Eleven/River (Doctor Who)
2. Roslin/Adama (BSG)
3. Sydney/Vaughn (Alias)
4. Willow/Tara (Buffy)
5. Michael/Sara (Prison Break)
6. Chuck/Sarah (Chuck)
7. Xena/Gabrielle (Xena)
8. Castle/Beckett (Castle)
9. Max/Logan (Dark Angel)
10. Mulder/Scully (The X Files)
11. Brennan/Booth (Bones)

Even this was difficult and I keep thinking of other pairings that I could have put on the list. I may have a bit of a shipping problem...

It's November and that means I get to decide if I want to attempt NaNo again this year. I'm thinking probably not since I have enough trouble writing journal entries, let alone an entire 50,000 word story. But maybe I should have a go at writing something. Maybe my difficulty writing is because I'm out of practice and I should force myself to do it more. But I don't like the idea of writing something bad, even though I know I'm the only one who'll ever read it.

I could also attempt NaBloPoMo again. That's a bit easier since I don't have to write that much, just something every day. Of course in that case I'd have to remember to visit LJ on a regular basis, which could be an issue.

Hmm, I'll see how I feel. But for now, have some rambling about TV shows:

Bones, Castle, Doctor Who, Prison Break )

So apparently I was premature with my Castle love yesterday.

In which I rant about the latest episode )

I woke up during the night right around the time of the super blood moon so I tried to have a look at it. I had to awkwardly twist out my window and still all I could see was the moon looking a bit duller than usual and, if anything, smaller than it normally is. I didn't bother to try and get a photo of it but I am glad I saw it for myself.

I didn't do a very good job of falling back asleep afterwards so I'm feeling rather tired now. So I shall take this opportunity to ramble aimlessly about TV:

Doctor Who )

Once Upon a Time )

Castle )

I'm also slowly catching up with The Walking Dead after a few weeks away from it. I might need to pick up the pace a little but I'm hoping to be all caught up when the new series begins next month.
