I had hoped to keep up a regular schedule of recaps, but I fear the finale is going to take a bit longer. This is for various reasons:

1. I had longer shifts for most of last week. And while this does mean more money (yay), it also means less time to do fun things like write silly recaps of TV shows (boo).

2. Tilly had a bad reaction to a tick bite where it swelled up quite badly and was a rather angry red colour so we took her to the vet cos I was worried that it could be something serious like Lyme disease. He gave us some anti-inflammatory medicine and we took her back a few days later to make sure it was all ok. It's gone down very nicely now, but I was very worried for a while.

3. I went to Oxford to see some friends at the weekend. We played board games and went out for dinner and I stayed overnight. It was really good to see them again cos it's been far too long. But, being the poster girl for introversion that I am, it did leave me feeling completely wiped out. I wish I had a weekend to rest and get over my weekend!

4. Our shower has broken. It went bang and stopped working while I was in it yesterday. Fortunately I was nearly finished anyway! We've ordered a new one and a guy is coming to fit it on Wednesday. I'm glad it's not going to be too long, cos it's really not the right weather for baths. Plus, I always like to rinse off in the shower afterwards anyway cos I feel like baths are more for relaxing than actually getting clean.

5. My joints ache. They often do this, but it feels even worse than usual at the moment.

But I am still working on the recap and I'm hoping it will be up soon. I don't want to rush or half-arse it cos it could very well be the very last Prison Break recap. (Of course I thought the same thing seven years ago, so who knows!)

BBQ Report

So, after my previous post in which I moaned about it being too hot, the British weather decided to respond by giving us a grey and rainy Saturday. Thanks, weather. It wasn't too bad though. We were able to get some barbecuing in in between the showers and there was Polish fighting beer to tide us over. Typical British BBQ.

There were quite a lot of people there and it was nice to see some folks I haven't seen in a while, but it was also rather overwhelming. Especially since a couple of the people, lovely though they are, are very loud and outgoing. Not that that's a bad thing, but it is rather exhausting to be around.

One moment that still sticks with me is when my friend said "Ahh, I love relaxing weekends like this" and I just kind of gaped at him because I had literally just been thinking about how tiring it all was! It was still fun, of course. I'm not saying that I had a bad time or that I didn't want to be there, but it was most definitely NOT relaxing!

My favourite part of the day had to be the evening, when half the people had gone and those of us who remained played Cards Against Humanity and Lord of Waterdeep. I love board games and I really wish I had more opportunities to play them. Especially the BSG board game, which is always fun. Trouble is you need at least three people to play at all, and really it's better with four or more, and I don't know that many people nearby who'd be interested.

In other news, I finally paid eBay the 30p that I've apparently owed them since 2008. Never let it be said that I don't clear my debts quickly.

Ah, summer. That wonderful time when I have the choice to either sleep with my window closed and feel like I'm boiling to death or sleep with it open and be woken up by the neighbours' cockerel at 4am. Decisions, decisions.

Either way, I'm very glad it's Friday. Work is also very uncomfortable in the summer cos it's so physical and I always end up feeling like a disgusting overheated mess by the end of my shift. Yesterday I found myself close to tears and I couldn't even put my finger on why exactly. I just felt so overwhelmed by everything and the thought that summer hasn't even technically started yet and I have so much more of this to come is really getting me down.

But at least I have my holiday at the end of July/beginning of August. That's something to look forward to, and not just because it means I won't be at work. I'm so excited to finally go to Ireland. You'd think with the amount of travelling I do and the fact that Ireland is right next to us I'd have already made a trip over, but nope. I get to experience it all for the first time. And try to do so without Loreena McKennitt lyrics running through my head on a constant loop!

Tomorrow I'm heading up to Oxford to see friends and hopefully have a BBQ if the weather cooperates. So that's something else to be happy about. Yay!
