Remember how a while ago I mentioned one of the banks I wrote to about Probate said that they had no records of any accounts in Dad's name so I had to write back to them with a copy of a letter which stated quite clearly that he did have an account with them?

Well now, nearly three weeks after my second letter, I have a reply from the same guy as before in which he refers to my that second letter as "advising" them of Dad's death, and explains that they need to see the death certificate in order to register it.

At first I was tempted to send a long, annoyed reply detailing our correspondence so far, but I think I'll just send the certificate with a covering letter and hope that they'll get it right this time.

I am annoyed though. Firstly because he told me there was no account when there was, presumably because he didn't bother to check properly, and secondly cos he didn't really address anything I said in my second letter. In fact I'm not sure he even read it, just saw that it was about a dead person and sent the form letter asking for a death certificate. He could have at least acknowledged that I'd already written to him and sent a certificate, but that he needs me to send it again cos he didn't bother to make a copy of it the first time.

I tried to donate blood last month but couldn't cos my haemoglobin levels were too low again. This time they were low enough that they told me to see my GP and have taken me off the blood donor register for 12 months. I think that's a bit of an overreaction cos I looked it up and my levels only put me at 'slightly anaemic'.

Still, I went to the doctor and he said it could well just be due to me giving blood regularly, but he wants to do a blood test to check and see if there are any other issues that could be causing it.

It probably is just due to giving blood and I'm so annoyed with myself for it. I had had an appointment to donate later this month, but because I'll be away then I changed it and I thought it would be better to bring it forward rather than waiting another month. And if I'd just been patient and waited a bit longer I would probably have been fine and wouldn't now have to wait a year before being able to go again.

Although I don't really care about sport in any way, I have had the England v Wales match on in the background as I've been writing this and it went into stoppage time with both teams tied 1-1. I turned to Tilly and said "You need to score another goal". She huffed, laid down, and a couple of seconds later England scored. I had assumed she'd go for Wales, being from there herself, but maybe she's been living in England so long she considers herself an English dog now. Either way, very impressive Tilly!

From my 2010 Questions Meme: 6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010? The Lego Hogwarts Castle. (lol, easily pleased!)

Today I built the Lego Hogwarts Castle. This year is already awesome!

Although not for my brother. He's halfway through a skiing holiday and today he phoned us from an ambulance! He'd fallen badly and called again later to give us the news that he's dislocated and fractured his shoulder. Ow.

In completely unrelated news, there's now a Battlestar Galactica Online game. I tried it yesterday but gave up after five minutes because it was so unbelievably boring. Maybe it would have been better if I'd been a Colonial. (I chose Cylon, not because I have a preference for them but because after being a Cylon almost every time I've played the BSG board game I've now accepted the inevitable truth that I am in fact a total frakking toaster.)

But maybe that's a good thing. I don't need another distraction!

They are not showing University Challenge this week because of the golf.

Watching University Challenge while cooking on a Monday evening is a tradition for me. It's something I look forward to every week. It is an important part of my life.

So it is for this reason that I am forced to announce that from this moment on, golf is my sworn enemy. Wherever it goes, whatever it does, I shall be hating it. And one day, when it least suspects it, I shall bring down the fiery vengeance of a thousand suns upon its head.

You're not just on the list, golf. You are the list.

That is all.

So is everyone excited about the World Cup starting tomorrow?

As I'm sure most of you know, I have very little interest in football. In fact the only thing about the game that I'm really passionate about is that it's called football and not soccer. But since money makes everything more interesting, that's about to change.

Yes, I am partaking in the World Cup sweepstakes at work. I drew Portugal as my team, which pleases me. I wasn't worried about picking a team with no chance of winning but I was worried about picking a team from a not very nice country that I wouldn't feel right supporting. But Portugal's good, so that's ok.

And yes, this does mean that I am supporting Portugal now. Because really, national pride versus the chance of winning actual money? No contest!

In other news, I have old-ladyfied myself. I did something to my back at work and it really hurts. I took a couple of strong painkillers and finished my shift but I was still limping along and trying to move as little as possible. I'm not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow. If it's not better by then I can't see myself being much use unless they stick me on the till or something.

The thing is, I did it in the cash office. I can't even say that I threw my back out while lifting a 20kg flat pack box. No, I did it while moving pieces of paper and counting money. That's not nearly as impressive.

Firstly, I feel I should confirm that I am still ALIVE. This is AMAZING. The COLLAPSING and DYING is still a possibility though for the week is not yet OVER.

YES, that's right, I am WORKING TOMORROW. I have to be at work at 8:30 in the MORNING on SATURDAY. To do DELIVERY. I hope it's all done before MIDDAY because I want to GO HOME and have an AFTERNOON.

Still, even though I have to be up EARLY tomorrow, that doesn't mean I can't DRINK now. This week I have PIMMS. It is very NICE, It has STRAWBERRIES and RASPBERRIES and GRAPES in it. I like FRUIT.

Hopefully I will SURVIVE and get to ENJOY Sunday. A WHOLE day off will be LOVELY. And the chance to REST will be very much APPRECIATED. Once again my LEGS hurt, but my ELBOWS also hurt. My left ELBOW is PARTICULARLY PAINFUL, which is quite WORRYING.

In an UNRELATED note, Andy MURRAY is out of WIMBLEDON. Maybe now everyone will SHUT UP about it.

Today Paul and I went to London to cross some bridges. Very impressive they were too, worth all the time we had to queue before we were able to step foot on them. There may also have been some people on bicycles riding along at excessive speeds nearby as well, but I'm not sure what that was all about.

Overall it was a very good day and the crowds were not too bad, at least until the People's Village, and the Village is forgiven for that because it provided me with churros, which I have never tried before but were very tasty.

I am now pretty worn out and because I made the mistake of wearing flat shoes my ankles are killing me. My upper left thigh is also very painful, as though I hit it quite hard on something but I'm not sure when or how that happened.

But now, it is time to sleep...
