Seven years ago I made my Ships of the Noughties list. Recently it was suggested to me by [livejournal.com profile] dustinw5220 that I make a similar list for the nineties. I decided to expand on that a bit to include a whole century rather than just a decade because why not? As usual I found it difficult to decide which ships to include, so before we reach the main event I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge some of my favourite couples who didn't quite make the cut:

Honourable Mentions )

I've also decided not to double up, so Mulder/Scully, Xena/Gabrielle, Tom/B'Elanna, Harm/Mac, Willow/Tara, Piper/Leo, John/Aeryn, and Charlie/Zoey are not featured in this list because I already included them in my Ships of the Noughties.

And now, without further ado, I present to you...

There you go. I hope you enjoyed my Twentieth Century Ships and please feel free to leave a comment letting me know what you think!

I have decided to take up coin collecting. For years I've been throwing interesting coins in a pot, but with the imminent demise of the round £1 coin I realised I wanted a way to keep track of what I've got. So I went online and, after struggling a lot more than I thought I would to find what I wanted, bought a coin album. It has spaces for all the UK decimal coins from 1971 to 2017, with handy pictures so I can see what I'm missing.

I'm a bit disappointed that it doesn't have pages for coins of Crown Dependencies or British Overseas Territories though, so I have nowhere to put the neat looking coins I have from Gibraltar, Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man. But it is a ring binder, so I can always try and make my own pages for them and put them in myself.

This weekend I'm going to go through the money I have in my house to see what coins I can find and how much of the album I can fill. I'm hoping to be able to collect all the current £1 coins before they go out of circulation in October, but I know that's a bit ambitious. I may have to start using cash to pay for things more often.

Also this weekend I'm planning to make banana bread and possibly start writing a list of my ships because it has been suggested that, following my Ships of the Noughties list, I make similar lists for the 90s or this decade. Rather than just limit it to the 90s I've been thinking that I could do a Ships of the Twentieth Century list. And technically I suppose I should leave this decade for another three years cos it's not over yet and who knows what new and wonderful ships might come along, but I'll probably do one anyway!

Also, Buffy icon cos it's 20 years since Buffy first aired in America and wow I feel old!

Apparently there's a favourite episodes meme going around LJ, so I thought I'd give it a go. And in doing so have discovered how bad I am at choosing favourite episodes.

I wanted to do BSG, but I just can't seem to think of it in terms of individual episodes. Other than The Oath and Blood on the Scales, which would definitely be on the list if I'd done one.

Doctor Who was quite easy. I have definite episodes of this show that I absolutely love and will rewatch again and again. Also, two-parters totally count as one episode for the purposes of this list.

Doctor Who:

1. A Good Man Goes to War
2. Let's Kill Hitler
3. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang
4. The Wedding of River Song
5. Vincent and the Doctor
6. The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone
7. The Doctor's Wife
8. The Angels Take Manhattan

Any Doctor Who fans reading this will probably have noticed a slight bias in my choices, lol!

I'm also going to do Buffy and Castle, although with these I know that I may suddenly go 'Oh, wait, what about x?! How could I have left that out?!' cos I'm just going with what I can think of at this moment:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

1. Hush
2. Once More with Feeling
3. Tabula Rasa
4. New Moon Rising
5. Halloween
6. Amends
7. Gingerbread
8. What's My Line parts 1 & 2

Castle:

1. Probable Cause
2. Target/Hunt
3. Cops and Robbers
4. Cuffed
5. After Hours
6. Tick Tick Tick/Boom
7. Vertias
8. The Time of Our Lives

I have to say, based on the adverts and all the build-up, I expected Downton Abbey to have been a bit more wrapped up last night than it turned out to be. I suppose Mary getting married was something, even if it did happen ridiculously quickly, but all their declarations of love fell a bit flat cos Henry's left no impression on me whatsoever and it felt like their wedding came out of nowhere. I know their romance has supposedly been building all season, but it hasn't felt like it. (In fact this is the first time all year I've actually remembered his name, which says a lot about how invested I've been in this storyline!)

At least they finally acknowledged that Mary might have some issues being married to a man who races cars when her first husband died in a car crash. Of course this only merited a short scene and then it was all forgotten again, but still. That's probably the best you can hope for with Downton now.

And I still think Bertie's going to go back to Edith. That's going to happen in the Christmas special. It has to.

Anyway, onto the November meme. Topic 5 is Favourite Romantic Pairing:

Now, I know I've been saying that pretty much every single topic so far is a tricky one, but this is definitely the hardest yet. Shipping is such a huge part of my fandom life and, as with TV shows, I usually go through stages of being super obsessed with a ship for a while before finding a new one and becoming super obsessed with that, but just because my super-obsession has moved on doesn't mean that I don't still love the old pairings or ship them any less. So rather than trying to pick one, I'm going to go with a top ten eleven in no particular order:

1. Eleven/River (Doctor Who)
2. Roslin/Adama (BSG)
3. Sydney/Vaughn (Alias)
4. Willow/Tara (Buffy)
5. Michael/Sara (Prison Break)
6. Chuck/Sarah (Chuck)
7. Xena/Gabrielle (Xena)
8. Castle/Beckett (Castle)
9. Max/Logan (Dark Angel)
10. Mulder/Scully (The X Files)
11. Brennan/Booth (Bones)

Even this was difficult and I keep thinking of other pairings that I could have put on the list. I may have a bit of a shipping problem...

So, the current [livejournal.com profile] picspammy challenge is Fifty and as I'm a big shipper I thought doing 50 Shippy TV Moments would be a good idea. I've never actually posted to the community before so I'm a bit nervous about this though.

Anyway, here's the picspam. I hope you like it! And if you disagree with any of my choices or think I've left any obvious ones out please say so in the comments.

Ok, so I'm really getting into this list thing, although I do wish I could think up a better name for them than 'lists'.

This time I have done a picspam celebrating my favourite redheaded ladies from television.

Fandom post ahead! I'm not sure if anyone on my friends list is actually going to be interested in this, but I've written it and I'm going to post it.

This list came about because I was watching a programme about the greatest TV shows of the decade. It was a terrible list that made no sense and made me quite angry so I decided to write my own. But instead of TV programmes I decided to do pairings that I’ve supported from the past ten years. They bring me squee and sadness in equal measure yet I still ship my little heart out.

The Rules: For a ship to be included it must have existed, at least in part, during the ten years spanning 2000 to 2009. So ships from programmes that started in the nineties and ran into the noughties are ok, but ships from programmes that finished before 2000 are not, even if I discovered/continued shipping them in the noughties. (Sorry Maddie/David.)

Because there was no way I was going to be able to put these in order of preference (I love them all!) I’ve listed them in chronological order instead:

You have to be with the person you love. )
