Previously, in my Livejournal, I gave you my Ships of the Noughties and Twentieth Century Ships lists. Well, a decade has passed since my Noughties list, a decade full of romantic, fun, heartwarming, and occasionally heartbreaking new ships for me to enjoy. So I have a new list to present for your reading pleasure.

As usual I found myself with far more potential couples than I could possibly include and so I may have gone slightly overboard with the honourable mentions list. I just couldn't bear to leave any of them out!

Once again I am not doubling up, so Mulder/Scully, Grissom/Sara, Tony/Ziva, Michael/Sara, Booth/Brennan, Barney/Robin, and Chuck/Sarah are not included because they're already on my Ships of the Noughties list. Although I was tempted to treat Prison Break's return like a new show and include Michael/Sara again, mainly cos when I wrote the first list Michael was supposed to be dead but it turns out he wasn't. (Shocking, I know...)

Anyway, here is my Ships of the 2010s list. Starting with the ones who didn't quite make the final cut:

And now, the main event:

Ok, first of all I just want to say that I am still working on my Ships of the 2010s list. I've completely missed my self-imposed end of January deadline but I am making progress. I have next week off work so I should have more time for it then, although not the whole week cos Monday will be taken up with watching the Oscars (I've given in to the fact that I'm too old to stay up until 5am to watch it live any more) and then on Tuesday I'm going to London to see Hamilton a second time (Yay!) and am planning to stay for the quiz on Wednesday and come back on Thursday.

I am so ready for this week off cos I feel completely worn out by work. And just in general. I've spent the last few days feeling really tired and heavy and like I just want to curl up and cry for a while.

Also, I've been having thoughts about The Good Place finale and I wanted to put them in writing, so here we go:

I felt sad enough today because it's Brexit Day and I still think that leaving the EU is one of the stupidest decisions this country has ever made, but then I made the mistake of watching the final episode of The Good Place and now I'm just going to go cry in a corner...

It's been a while since I've made a post about TV shows and with quite a few of them coming back this month this seems like a good time to talk about what I've been watching recently...

Ok, I keep saying I'm going to make a TV post and never seem to get round to it and I think the problem is that I'm overthinking things. so I'm just going to make a post now and hope it make sense.

Some spoilers ahead, which I've put behind LJ cuts...

Things I Have Been Watching This Year:

Anne With An E:

I started watching this a few months ago but only got about halfway through. I may try to finish it at some point but the trouble is that Anne is so incredibly irritating I'd have sent her back myself at the earliest opportunity. Canada is very pretty though.

~

Stranger Things:

I heard such good things about this series for ages before I finally binge watched the first season earlier this year. It was so good and I was very excited to watch season two as soon as it was released. And it didn't disappoint, although it did break my heart.

~

Once Upon a Time:

I still maintain that this show has finished. What is currently being aired is a different show that happens to have the same name (a bit like season 9 of Scrubs). I tried watching one episode and it was terrible. Absolutely terrible. I might give it another go cos it feels a bit unfair to give up so soon, but it's not at the top of my list.

~

The Handmaid's Tale:

This is another one that I've started but not finished. Not because I don't like it but because it's pretty hard going. I read the book a few years ago so I know the story, but it's still a difficult watch.

~

The Good Place:

I am LOVING this show. The first season was only released in the UK at the end of August so I'm a bit late to the party but I'm so glad I gave it a chance when I was flicking through Netflix wondering what to watch. And, fortunately, we're not being made to wait for season two. We get the episodes the day after they're shown in America, which is brilliant but does mean I'm always left wanting more!

Spoilers Ahead! )

Star Trek Discovery:

I was wary going into this because I've been a lifelong Star Trek fan and the last time I got excited about a new series it was the exceedingly disappointing Enterprise. But so far Discovery has really impressed me. It didn't really feel like Star Trek to me, at least not until 'Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad', which had that good old Trek staple of time travel. I love time travel episodes. And when I say that it didn't feel like Star Trek, I'm not saying that I didn't like it. It's different, but that doesn't mean bad.

I love Tilly. And not just because she shares her name with my dog. She's a wonderful ray of sunshine and I hope only good things happen to her. I also love Stamets and Culber and their relationship.

Major Spoilers Ahead! )

Happy Doctor Who Day! 54 years ago today the very first episode aired. And four years ago today I was in London to watch the 50th Anniversary Special in Covent Garden cinema. Four years ago tomorrow I went to the Doctor Who 50th Celebration convention at the ExCel. That was a good weekend.

Talking about TV, I do keep meaning to make a post about what I'm watching at the moment but between entering the super-busy Christmas period at work and still trying to de-clutter the house and de-bramble the garden at home I never seem to find the time. I can say that it'll definitely include Star Trek Discovery and The Good Place, both of which I am loving at the moment.

And talking about Christmas, I'm doing pretty well with my plan to get my Christmas shopping done early. I'm doing most of it online and everyone's getting food and drink. It just makes so much more sense to get them tasty things I know they'll enjoy rather than risking getting something that'll just sit around gathering dust. (This decision may have been influenced by the sheer amount of stuff we already have in our house.) I have bought a few non-edible items too, but the majority has been food.

And talking about food, I'm hungry. Time for me to head off and make dinner. Bye!
