Week Off

I've just had a week off work during which I did very little other than build Lego, put together jigsaws, and re-watch Brooklyn Nine Nine. It was glorious. But now work is upon me again and, if today was any indication, I'm going to be absolutely worn out by the time Christmas comes around.

Speaking of Christmas, I've decided to embrace the festive spirit rather than moan about how early it is. I don't care that it's only November, I've already had five different festive drinks from various coffee shops, two fruit pies (cos I don't like mince pies) and have started my Christmas shopping. I'm hoping to get it all done by December so I can properly relax and enjoy Christmassy things like baking gingerbread and watching every Christmas episode of every TV show ever made.

Of course I didn't just stay at home during my week off. I went up to London last weekend to watch fireworks and then my pub quiz team and I went to Brighton to do an escape room, which we absolutely smashed with 19 minutes to spare. We didn't do quite so well on Wednesday when we came second in the quiz, just one point behind the winners, but I suppose we can't win them all. Dammit.

Happy 2013!

Happy belated New Year, everyone! I know I'm a bit late with my annual memes. I blame a combination of LJ being down and me being distracted with other things, ooh, shiny...

Time for my annual New Year's memes. I'm feeling a bit tipsy at the moment because we didn't finish the champagne last night so I've taken it upon myself to make the sacrifice and drink the rest of it today. I hope my answers still make sense.

Wow, it's really pouring it down outside. The sky is grey and everything has a dark, autumnal feel. I love it.

I meant to make a Yay September post on Thursday but I had a crappy day at work and didn't feel in the mood. But now the rain is making me happy, so here we go.

September is awesome. It contains both my birthday and the first day of autumn, which is my absolute favourite season, and even though the majority of September is still technically summer it feels very autumnal. The evenings are drawing in, the leaves start turning, the temperature drops and the coats come out. Brilliant.

It's the time for board games and baking and staying inside while the rain beats down outside the window.

And, of course, the new television season starts, bringing so many wonderful things to watch on those dark, cosy evenings.

In conclusion, Yay for September!

=D

Four Days

This holiday weekend I have been mostly:

- Sitting on the patio to make the most of the lovely weather. In fact that is where I am right now. Next to me I have a glass which used to contain ginger beer but which is now empty. Alas.

- Watching Bones. Well, two episodes. They were good, although I still don't really get this whole rogue sniper storyline that came out of nowhere.

- Watching Chuck. I love Chuck. I think what I love most about Chuck is that it's a happy programme. You can watch it safe in the knowledge that everything will be all right in the end, good will triumph over evil, the people you love will be happy and Chuck and Sarah will be together.

- Watching 'William and Kate: The Movie'. Now, I went into this knowing that it was going to be amazingly bad but I simply wasn't prepared for just how excruciatingly dire it was going to be. It had everything you could hope for in an American TV film about British royals. Terrible accents! American plug sockets in supposedly British houses! Prince William publicly singing karaoke to apologise for ignoring Kate at his birthday party! The University of St Andrews apparently being renamed St Andrews College and looking absolutely nothing like the university that I visited a few years ago! Constant references to university as 'school'! (It's that last one that got to me the most. If I'd had a drink for every time I shouted "We don't call university 'school', you idiots!" at the TV I'd have been completely wasted before the film was halfway through.)

- Sorted out my room. And by 'sorted out' I mean 'moved stuff from one big pile into other, slightly more organised piles.' That's really the only way I do any kind of tidying up.

- Sleeping weirdly. Apparently my body has decided that during the holidays I need to wake up around 4, stay away until around 8 and then, just when I'm thinking I could probably get up at this point, become so tired I can't keep my eyes open until around 10:30. It's rather annoying.

- Building puzzleballs. Two today.

- Watching Doctor Who. I should have mentioned it earlier but I forgot. Possibly because it was a bit of a blah episode that didn't exactly grab my attention. Hopefully it'll be better next week.

Hey, everyone! Time for my New Year's memes. My answers this year are more upbeat than I can ever remember them being previously, which has to be a good thing!
