Thanks to the Doctor Who Festival, I have fallen quite a bit behind in the November meme so I'll try to answer a few of the topics today:

8. Favourite childhood memory

Perhaps it's an odd one, but I have this memory of sitting in my grandparents' front room in Rye. My brother and I had pushed two chairs together to make a sort of boat that we were sitting in. Beside us we had a box of various sweets that we'd bought from Jempsons earlier, using the tiny little children's trollies they had there, and we were eating sweets while watching TV while sitting in our chair boat and I just remember feeling so happy and content.

9. Favourite childhood cartoon

So many to choose from, but I adored Postman Pat. Our first cat was black and white, so naturally we called her Jess.

10. Favourite video game

If we're talking PC then the Monkey Island games. They were just so good. And actually my memory of playing Monkey Island on the computer in the conservatory could be a contender for topic 8. We had a tin of sweets out there that I ate so many of while playing the game that they became known in my mind as 'Monkey Island sweets'.

If we're talking consoles, then I'd probably go with Lego Harry Potter. More recent, but still so much fun.

So today was fun! First of all someone called in sick so I got some extra hours, which is good cos bank holidays are paid at time and a half. And then all the tills went down and we had to close for about an hour. There was still delivery to do so it wasn't like I got paid to sit around and do nothing, but it's always so much nicer without customers!

And I managed to get in some Mega Drive games when I got home. More Shining in the Darkness. Golden Axe. Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I'm pretty much drowning in nostalgia now!

According to my FitBit I have already walked over 15,000 steps today. I knew work was good for something. Other than money, of course.

But then on the lazier side of things, I have also bought the Sega Mega Drive Collection for the PS3. Which means that I can play Sonic the Hedgehog to my heart's content! It also means that I can play Shining in the Darkness, which I am having so much nostalgic fun with. I saw the title in the list of games and it felt vaguely familiar so I gave it a go and as soon as the music started I was hit with all these memories! Not even anything specific, I couldn't remember much about the gameplay until I got into it, but all the feelings that I had playing it all those years ago. It's weird just how much it affected me!

Nooo! Stephen Gately, nooo!

Damn, I loved him when I was 13.

And 33 is far too fucking young.

:(

I am not finding Children in Need as entertaining as I had hoped. Perhaps they are saving the best for after midnight.

Of course I am quite, quite drunk right now.

*Edit* Having said that, watching Boyzone singing 'Love Me For a Reason' is throwing me into lovely nostalgia flashbacks to my early teens. Ah, Stephen, you're so cute.

Boyzone! Stephen Gately hasn't aged at all, has he? My mum thinks they must have a clone of him somewhere that they brought out for the event.

Doctor Who. Ten talking about the Master: "No beard this time. Well, a wife." How awesome is that? I hope I didn't mishear what he said (and if I did, I don't really want to know.)

Lee Mead. I really, really want to go see Joseph in London. I'm just not sure who would want to go with me.

School

My first day of school went ok. I spent some time with the children and a lot of time trimming and mounting things on paper to go on display. The teachers were very impressed with my work. Good eyesight and OCD do make for very neat borders.

It's so weird being back at your old school when everything is different. I was standing on the playground, that used to be part of the field, trying to picture the huts and tree that would have been next to me but are no longer there. The strange blue door is also gone and I can't quite remember the layout of the main building as it used to be.

The Smart Board is so... fancy. I was so tempted to go and play with it but I'm sure the children would have laughed at me since I have no clue how to use the thing and they obviously do it every day.
