Time

Essay's done. Printed out. It's due in Friday so I had planned to finish it this week but I don't need to do that now. Ooh, days off. What shall I do? I would consider going into town and doing some shopping except it is that dreaded time again. The time that strikes fear into the hearts of people everywhere. It is...Half Term.

Bratty children! Annoying teenagers! They're everywhere! There is no escape! I think it was last year that I forgot it was half term and went into Canterbury one day. It's a miracle I made it out alive.

I'll probably use the time to play with my rats. Which the housemate now knows about and reacted to with disbelief, "who keeps rats in their bedroom?!" Well, lots of people! Don't be insulting rats, I won't stand for that. Then he said a lot more stupid stuff that pissed me off.

But, back to happy thoughts, my rats are so sweet! They're a lot more confident now and if I leave the cage door open they'll come out to look for food and if I put my hand there they'll crawl on to it. Evie is now much shyer than Minnie though. Minnie is also a lot whiter than she was originally, she has a black stripe going down her back that radiates out into the white of her sides.

Hmm, what else. Oh, I got an email from Expedia about my changed flight so hopefully I'll get the new tickets soon. Did I mention my changed flight? I'm not sure I did. Anyway, the stopover in Newark was going to be even shorter and since neither I nor Dad thought that was going to be enough time he had me changed to an earlier flight. So I now have 4 hours in Newark, which gives me a lot of time to work out where I'm supposed to go and what I'm supposed to do. That's a relief.

I think Im doing something wrong with my rats. They never come to me. Plus I can't leave the cage door open with the cats running around. And the cage is up about four feet. You're gunna have to help me with them I think. I need to get them some toys or something to do. Maybe build them something so they can get out of their cage more often.

And I have to say when you said changed flight I nearly passed out. I got all worried that like you decided to go to Hawaii or something and didn't wanna see me. I freaked a bit. But yay for extra time to figure everything out.

When I go to CT I might have a stopover in like Chicago or something. That would be pretty cool. I wanna go to DC and be in Dulles and look for Mulder and Scully. Yes, I know I'm a loser. But I'm cute right?

I got my rats to come to me by putting food in my hand and holding it next to the open cage door. At first they just reached out and quickly grabbed when they wanted but now they actually come all the way out and see me. Evie was crawling up my arm earlier.

Maybe if your rats had something they could walk out on to by their cage door, like a ledge, they would be more willing to explore. You should probably try to keep the cats out of the room though, since I doubt the rats will want to come out with their natural predators lurking nearby!

Heh, Hawaii. I now have the weird Hawaii song in my head and it's all your fault.

You're very cute. But I don't think Mulder and Scully hang around the airport. They'd probably be off searching for aliens.

I could try that. But I'm worried they'll scamper off and get lost in my wreck of a room. And that wouldn't be so good.

Why not? I think they would love to hang around the airport. Aliens at the airport. Illegal ones. Hehe, get it aliens, illegal... yeah didn't think it was too funny either.

I'm always worried mine will scamper off, that's why I make sure I'm nearby at all times to catch them before they get too far.

I find it very useful that when my girls get spooked they run back to their cage. It makes it a lot easier on me than if they ran away.
