Waffle Abbey
Oct. 8th, 2025 04:36 pmHello lovely people. I went to the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing and I am definitely going to make a post about it, but something that long is going to take a while so for now have a recap of other things I've been doing lately:
On Saturday I went to St Albans to meet up with my friends and eat waffles. Yes, in what is rapidly turning into a yearly tradition, we went to The Waffle House again. And once again I had two waffles, but this time I had dessert first:
Tiramisu Waffle! It was on their specials list and I love tiramisu, so of course I had to have it. And I didn't want to wait and have it second in case we decided we were one and done this time.
I followed it up with a Baked Cheese and Garlic Butter Waffle:
So simple but so delicious! As was the coffee milkshake I had to go with it.
We then retreated to Tracey and Andrew's house for a bit before heading our separate ways. My journey was different than last year's cos I'm now at a new starting point, but it was actually fairly straightforward. So maybe St Albans will be our meeting point from now on, although I do still want to get everyone down to Hastings to enjoy the sea some time soon!
In other news, I ventured to Hastings cinema for the first time to watch the third and (presumably) final Downton Abbey film - Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. It was lovely. And just so... nice. That's the best way I can describe it. It dealt with such super high stakes as "Who will hand out the Champions Cup at the county fair?", "Can a man really be expected to live in a flat with strangers above and below him?", "Will a member of the royal family spontaneously combust if they have to suffer being in the same room as a divorced lady?" and "Can American men be trusted with large amounts of money?" That last one was probably the highest stakes of the whole thing but even that was resolved fairly easily and with no lasting harm to the family.
The ending was lovely too, with everyone happy and settled. It did make me miss Matthew though. I really wish he and Mary could have had their happily ever after. But I guess that's what fanfiction is for. I'm sure there's a story out there where it turns out they made a mistake and Matthew didn't die after all but has had amnesia this whole time. And if there isn't I might just have to write it myself!
