I'll Keep My Blood Then
Mar. 25th, 2025 06:42 pmI went into town to go blood doning and they had trouble with my veins again. This happened once before a few years ago and it just meant I couldn't donate that time. Next time I went they said I had perfect veins for donation so they didn't know what the problem had been! I thought that was what was going to happen again, but no. This time the lady said that I had "unsuitable veins for donation" and would be completely taken off the register and that was that. I did point out what happened before but she wouldn't be swayed.
I feel so sad and deflated cos giving blood has always been something good and helpful I can do. My blood is O-, which is the universal donor, and CMV-, which means it can be given to newborn babies. It's very useful blood and to not be able to donate any more because one person decided my veins are no good really stings.
What also hurts is that I tried to log on to the app to see how many donations I'd made in total (I think 33, but I'm not certain) but it won't let me. I've obviously been shut out now I'm no longer on the register. And I thought I'd at least get an email to say goodbye, but no. Nothing. It really feels like a big "Fuck off, you're useless to us now" message.
