St Albans Saturday
Oct. 16th, 2024 07:10 pmI went to St Albans last Saturday to meet up with the Wednesday Crew. I haven't seen most of them in over two years, so it was really nice to catch up. It's not the easiest place to get to though, so I got the train to Surbiton then hitched a ride with Paul from there.
We went to a place called The Waffle House, which was clearly a very popular spot judging by the queue we saw!
I had a Bacon & Blueberry Waffle, which was delicious:
The waffles were a lot lighter than I was expecting, which was good cos it meant I didn't feel guilty about following up with a dessert waffle:
Look at all that fruit! Such a healthy meal!
It had started to rain so our original plan to go to the park was scuppered and instead we went to Tracey and Andrew's house. It was the first time I've been to their new place. We stayed for a bit before heading off. I got the train back and had half an hour before the bus so I wandered around Farnham and took a couple of photos.
Apparently Tormund didn't approve of my leaving for the day though cos when I got home he was very subdued and lethargic. I was so worried about him, but he perked up the next day and I'm wondering if he was just trying to punish me for leaving. The other thing we think it might be is his joints could have been a bit stiff cos he missed out on his usual walks and spent a lot of time on the sofa.
In other news, we got our boiler serviced today like the responsible home-owners we are. And speaking of being responsible home-owners, I think I forgot to mention that the drain in the side passage kept flooding and we had to get Dyno-Rod to come out and sort it a couple of weeks ago. And then we bought the equipment so that if it happens again maybe I can sort it myself. As long as I can work out how to get the drain cover off, though. That's the part that's currently eluding me cos there are no holes or handles and I can't seem to get the right angle to lever it up from the side due to the raised area around it. Very frustrating!
