Blackberry Olympics
Aug. 8th, 2024 06:30 pmThe blackberries in the garden are lovely and plump and I managed to pick a few of them earlier. For some reason this photo makes it look like I didn't get many at all, but there were a lot more than it seems here. Although not any more cos I've been eating them all!
I've also been watching the Olympics a lot. I'm really into the climbing cos I used to love climbing stuff as a child and went to a climbing wall a few times as an adult, which was a lot of fun. Sometimes I wonder if I'd had the opportunity to take it up as an actual sport when I was younger how good could I have been? Not Olympic-level I'm sure, but I do think I might have done pretty well.
But even though I'm not in Paris I am kinda competing at these Olympics, because we are once again doing a family sweepstakes. This was mostly born out of the fact that I bought a big pack of chocolate medals for the Euros prize and have a load left over. For this competition I put the names of the countries most likely to score medals (minus China and the USA cos they always win) into a hat and we drew two names each. One medal will go to the team who wins the most gold medals and the other will go to the team who wins the most medals overall. I have Japan and Germany so I don't think I'm likely to do very well this time! In fact, if the event finished now then Rob would win both cos Australia have the most golds and France have the most overall!
