On Monday I went down to the Hastings area to stay with Rob and Meg and have a look at a potential house.  The house itself is great, so much space, but the garden isn't good at all.  We keep saying how we want a flat garden that we can walk straight out to and enjoy, which we definitely wouldn't be able to do there.  So I don't think it will work for us, which is a shame cos I would love to have a house that big!

But it was still a very nice trip.  I had a bit of time to spare when I first got to St Leonards so I went and sat by the seafront cos I do love the sea:

Beautiful.  I can't wait to live close enough to be able to do this regularly!

I stayed at Rob's place overnight and I'm not sure his cats approved of this weirdo in their house:

Or maybe she's just hoping I know how to fill a food bowl!

I had to head home the next day, but I decided I wanted to go via Rye and spend some time there.  I saw there was a bus to Rye that went from just outside where Rob lives, but it went via an inland route.  Whereas another bus went via the coast.  So I thought I'd walk to Hastings station and catch the scenic bus instead.

Fortunately the weather was nice at that point and I enjoyed a lovely walk through Alexandra Park:

I was also pleased when I emerged from a footpath and could see the sea!

It's there!  Honest!  The whole time I was walking I was looking around at the houses trying to see if any looked good and were for sale.  A sea view would be lovely, but from the house-hunting I've done so far I don't think it's realistic!

I was impressed with the fancy bus timetable screen at Hastings station, where I boarded the 101 and headed to Rye via Fairlight, Pett Level, and Winchelsea Beach.  It rained a bit while I was on the bus, but I still had lovely views from my seat at the front of the top deck, where I also felt incredibly anxious as this huge double-decker made its way down these narrow country lanes!

When I got to Rye I had a drink and a panini in The Apothecary with a nice view out the window:

Where I noticed that Adams sells Lego.  Very tempting!

I got the train back via Ashford and London so in the end I did a nice little loop of the south east!
