I was my usual indecisive self while making this list and, while I had strong feelings about some of the dresses, others have moved up or down a category since I started writing it. Best to post it now before I change my mind yet again!

Ones I Liked

Angela Bassett

I have made no secret of my dislike for fishtail dresses but this one just works. I love the colour and she looks absolutely fantastic.

I didn't see this one on the night but I love it. It's so classy and elegant and all the different parts work so well together.

Dresses like this can be a bit hit and miss and this one is definitely a hit.

On someone else this might look ridiculous, but she just makes it work.

Simple, elegant, and the colour really suits her.

She looks like a beautiful swan. And I love her hair.

Salma Hayek Pinault (and daughter Valentina Pinault)

I was a bit uncertain at first but I do like Salma's tinsel dress. And I love her daughter's dress (which is apparently one Salma wore in 1997)

Ok, so it's pretty much impossible to find a decent picture of her dress but I love it. It's gorgeous.

Ones I'm Not Sure About

Cate Blanchett

This looks very similar to the dress Tilda Swinton wore to the Oscars in 2009 which I hated. This isn't quite as bad, at least it's a nice colour.

I want to love this dress so badly. Most of it is gorgeous. But I just can't get over the weird frayed top bit.

I'm a hair's breadth away from putting this in the Don't Like section cos the dress itself isn't great and the slit is too high, but I kinda like the roses.

This dress would be beautiful if it weren't for the unnecessary and completely out of place train.

I like the colour and the sparkle, but the fit isn't very flattering and I don't understand the point of the stripes.

I hated this before I saw that weird white frill at the bottom. Now I hate it even more.

When I first saw this I thought her leg was in a cast. But no, it's just a really. really, really stupid dress. It looks awful and every time she walked in it she tripped over. Strong contender for worst dress ever.
