Last Friday I went up to London for mine and Paul's traditional Festive Weekend. It was a bit different from previous years cos Paul is now jointly responsible for a tiny human but it was still good. I met said tiny human for the first time and he smiled at me, which bodes well.

And I gave him a cuddly elephant as a birthday present, which I hope he likes.

The festivities started with a mulled wine on the South Bank, which was suitably Christmassy:

We had a look around the markets there and the ones in Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square before heading to the cinema for one of the main cornerstones our Festive Weekends are built on:

Muppet Christmas Carol singalong! And it finally has When Love is Gone back in its rightful place in the film! So it felt extra special this year.

We had to head straight back to his place once the film was over, so we didn't get a chance to explore any more of the lights and atmosphere in central London. But we did watch Muppet Treasure Island, which I've never actually seen before and was very entertaining.

And the view from the bridge was pretty:

The next day saw us heading to Chiswick House and Gardens Christmas Market where I bought some treats for Tormund and some venison, port and cranberry sausages for me and Mum. They were delicious!

Paul then had to go have a hockey ball hit at him, so I explored nearby Barnes for a bit. I ate some M&S Christmas food by a picturesque pond. It was very nice but I couldn't feel my fingers by the end!

I had hoped to find some interesting shops to buy presents from, but nothing grabbed me. So after a few loops of the town I found a pretty pub and sat in the Christmassy courtyard with a beer. I really liked the lights, and it was pleasantly quiet so I was able to relax and read until it was time to head off.

That evening the four of us went out for drinks and dinner, which was lovely. And I got a Celebrations McFlurry on the way back, which definitely counts as Festive Food!

On Sunday we went for brunch and had a look at the Kingston Christmas Market where I was able to pick up my traditional cheese truckles and penis cakes schokokuss.

So all in all a good, albeit different, Festive Weekend.

Speaking of being festive, I wrote all my Christmas cards and wrapped presents for overseas friends today with the plan of posting them tomorrow. I felt like I was being very efficient but I've actually already missed the final posting dates so they may be getting New Year's presents instead!
