Out With Friends
May. 9th, 2022 07:32 pmI went out for a meal with friends on Saturday. There were eight of us in total, including some people I don't think I've seen since Emma's wedding six and a half years ago, and it was lovely to all be together again. You can tell we're getting old though. Conversation ranged from babies (Jennie is pregnant, so it was topical), to the best car to get, to things that needed to be done around their various houses. I kept quiet during that discussion cos if I started talking about all the stuff that needs to be done around my house we'd probably still be there now. But since we're all old we headed off around 9:30 instead. Which was a relief, cos my eyes were itchy and burning like it was the early hours of the morning. I'm a bit disappointed by that, actually. I know I joke about being old, and yes I was up at 7am to take Tormund for a walk, but I should not be so fatigued at 9:30 on a Saturday evening!
Guildford looked wonderfully inviting in the evening though. Interestingly I'd had a dream the night before where I was magically transported to a town and I loved it so much I decided to move there. The side street we went down to get to the restaurant looked very much like the street in my dream. I wonder if this is a sign? It would be lovely to live close enough to somewhere that I was able to go out and enjoy myself and not be constrained by needing a lift cos public transport ends woefully early around here.
*goes to buy a Euromillions ticket in hope*
Also, I have this week off work and today I made a Salted Caramel Wreath from a kit I bought on sale after Christmas. It turned out pretty well:
By which I mean my ability to follow instructions on a box...

Ok, the join won't be winning any awards for neatness, but I think the twisting is pretty good.

What a difference some heat makes.

After the salted caramel icing drizzle.

Compare and contrast to how it's supposed to look. I think it's pretty close!

And it tasted really good, which is the main thing!
