The Heat is On

It's too hot and Britain is melting. But at least I've been able to spend most of today flopped on the sofa playing Uncharted. Tomorrow is what I'm really worried about cos it's supposed to be even hotter than today and I have a long shift at my rather physical work. I have long shifts for most of the week, in fact, and the heat looks like it's sticking around for all that time, so this is not going to be fun.

But I just have to make it through the next five days and then I'm off on our Great European Adventure (as I have dubbed our upcoming holiday). First we're going to Paris, then on to Antwerp, and then Amsterdam. After that we're coming back via a night in Lille and then on to Chichester to attend our friends's wedding. I'm really looking forward to it.

Of course, knowing my luck, we're bound to have really hot and sunny weather while I'm stuck at work and then as soon as I'm on holiday it'll cloud over again. Almost guaranteed, isn't it?

What kind of work do you do? I work in child care so luckily I get to stay in the air conditioning most of the day.
That sounds like an awesome vacation! I'm so jealous. I'm stuck in Iowa. :( Have fun!

I work retail. But the nature of the shop I work in means we have to go and pick the stock and take it out ourselves, which involves a lot of walking and carrying items (many of which are big and heavy) in a non air-conditioned stockroom. In this weather I usually end up a disgusting, sweaty mess by the end of the day!

Aww, I'm sure there's lots of fun stuff in Iowa. I've never been myself, but Dar Williams has a song called Iowa that makes a great singalong at her concerts so that's what I always think about when I hear the name!

Yuck! I don't think I could go back into working in non air conditioning. I'm spoiled now, plus my allergies are terrible at times still.

I'd never heard that song before. For some reason it makes me laugh every time she sings Iowa! I was worried it was going to be about corn fields and tractors. Lol It kind of sounds like something my husband's band would play. They play some folk/country type stuff.

Yeah, it's really not much fun! But we have managed to dig out a few fans, which makes it slightly more bearable.

It's the really long "Iowa"s that make it such a good singalong song! And I like the sound of your husband's band. I do like a bit of folk/country type stuff!

I normally sunbathe in the sun and after a middling morning the afternoon soon heated up here in Kent. If it is hotter tomorrow i will be out and about doing my covert visits. As A Dr,Who fan myself i have added you btw.
