It's my birthday and I'm old! And possibly the slightest bit tipsy. We had champagne out on the patio earlier, and I'm currently drinking red wine cos we've just had dinner and yeah... slightly tipsy.

We went to Alresford today, which wasn't as interesting as I'd hoped it would be. But more interesting is the fact that this was the first year in a long time that I wasn't aware of the exact moment I turned a year older. Usually I'm watching the clock and am ready to mark the minute it happens, but today I just suddenly looked at the time and realised it had passed and I was officially 32. I wonder if that means anything.

I got a lot of lovely presents, including Doctor Who Cluedo and University of Kent Monopoly (I didn't even realise that latter one was a thing that existed until I opened it!) Mum has so far beaten me twice at DW Cluedo, which I find rather unacceptable on my birthday, but I am currently winning our game of University of Kent Monopoly. I am rather put out that she owns Keynes College though. That was MY college. I'm a Keynes alumna. I should own it, dammit!

I'm feeling quite sleepy and drunk and should probably go to bed soon. I might watch a River/Doctor episode of Doctor Who first though, to end the day on a high note.

I need to make a post so I don't lose at NaNoBloPo. The main topics on my mind at the moment are as follows:

1. My 10,000th post on Tumblr was a success. I was seriously worried that people would think I was stupid for posting it, but so far everyone seems to like it. This makes me happy.

2. I'm thinking I should watch American Horror Story. Between Rach here and Caro on Tumblr, I'm hearing a lot about it and how good it is. I just hope it's not going to freak me out too much.

3. I'm cold.

That's about it. As you can see, my mind is a powerhouse of brilliance. And the title of this entry may be a lie.

My NaNo story's wordcount has just passed the halfway point. My NaNo story's storyline is nearly finished. This does not bode well.

Still, I have plans to spend the next few hours engaged in some late night desperation writing. Who knows, maybe I'll find a whole new direction to go in. Probably not.

Also, there are still plenty of songs to be guessed on my first lines lyrics meme. If you haven't looked at it yet, please have a go. I'm thinking that tomorrow I might add the next lines for the ones that haven't been guessed yet in order to make it a bit easier.

Today I have managed the great achievement of surviving for 27 years. Yay me!

I received lots of lovely presents, including a giant Marmite money jar. It says it holds £200 in 5p pieces so I have decided to try and test this claim. I fear it may take me quite a long time though. I also got a Knit Your Own Ninja kit and have discovered that I am very bad at knitting. But I do dispute their claim that this is a beginners level kit; it clearly requires some actual knowledge of knitting before you start, and I am woefully lacking in that.

Finally, as long time readers of my journal will know, my birthday is the time for me to regale you with a poem of such epic brilliance it will make you weep tears of joy and cause all other poetry to be ruined for you for ever more.

Brace yourselves, here it comes...

To twenty six I bid farewell,
But I have no time to dwell.
Twenty seven's here instead,
And now I think I'm off to bed.

See, this is what happens when you get to be as old as I am. You spend your day knitting then go to bed at ten o'clock. All I need now is a cup of warm cocoa and a pair of fluffy socks and I'm set.

Ho Ho Ho!

Happy Boxing Day!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We did and now we have enough alcohol and chocolate to last us into June. Knowing my family though we should get through it long before then. Maybe we'll still have some in the new year if we're lucky.

In true family tradition we played Trivial Pursuit today, which lasted a few hours. I won, which was pretty awesome cos I came from behind to snatch victory from the two people who had got all their wedges way before me and had had many, many attempts at the final question.

I may be slightly drunk right now cos we also had one of my Christmas presents, a bottle of champagne, while playing and Dad and I have now moved on to the Bundaberg rum. Yay Australia!

Alas, 'tis no longer my birthday. The celebrations have come to an end and I am now just a normal 26 year old with nothing special going on.

Ysterday was good, even though I did have a dentist appointment in the morning. Not the best way to start your birthday.

My family and I went to the pub at lunchtime. The weather wasn't great, which was a shame. Especially since it was warm and sunny today and would have been very nice pub weather. Apparently this is my fault for not being born on the 8th. :p

Later on we got Indian food for dinner. Robert and I went to collect it and I was wearing a 'Birthday Girl' ribbon so the guys there gave me a dessert while we were waiting, which was very sweet of them. Then they gave one to Robert too, even though it wasn't his birthday! Shocking.

Yeah, I may be a little drunk again. I got a bottle of fizz as a present and we drank most of it yesterday but there was still a little left so I've just finished it off. I'm not sure I should feel as drunk as I do off of one glass but I guess that's what happens when you get old.

Hello! Tis my birthday! I have had a great day and I would love to tell you all about it but I am le tired, so I shall leave the main post till tomorrow.

Of course I couldn't end the day without sharing my traditional birthday poem with you all, so here it is:

Another year of being alive
Means I'm no longer 25.
And now I find I'm in a fix
For what to rhyme with 26.

Personally I think it'll go down in history as one of the greatest literary works of all time, but I may be slightly drunk right now.

I have a shiny new laptop! It is big! And shiny! (It really is shiny, seriously.) It has an 18.4" screen and fancy sound system and Blu-Ray and a media console. It also has Windows Vista, which is very fancy.

I'm still in the 'new keyboard' stage and so typing this entry is giving me problems cos keys are not where I expect them to be, although I'm getting the hang of it. Everything feels a bit lopsided because the keyboard isn't centred due to the numeric keypad. Yep, my laptop has a numeric keypad. It's just that big.

I haven't transferred my files over from my old laptop yet so this still feels a bit like I'm using someone else's computer. I'm sure I'll get over that soon.

I may be slightly drunk right now cos it's my dad's birthday and I've had a glass of fizz. I'm sure one glass shouldn't leave me feeling like this but it appears I am definitely losing my tolerance.

Really I'm just glad I'm feeling so upbeat right now cos work today was shit and yesterday was even worse. I'm so glad I'm not working tomorrow or Monday. Screw the double pay, I want my four day weekend!

The fireworks, bonfire and drinking night is going awesomely. We are currently in the middle of a game of Cranium and the only reason I have come over to post this is so I don't lose at NaBloPoMo.

I am not finding Children in Need as entertaining as I had hoped. Perhaps they are saving the best for after midnight.

Of course I am quite, quite drunk right now.

*Edit* Having said that, watching Boyzone singing 'Love Me For a Reason' is throwing me into lovely nostalgia flashbacks to my early teens. Ah, Stephen, you're so cute.

I've just been to a beer festival.

I think I'm drunk.

Alas, I had hoped to catch up on my NaNo writing today, but it was not to be.

I should possibly mention that I am quite, quite drunk right now.
